How to Complete the Convict to Convent Challenge in BitLife

BitLife’s weekly challenges are known for throwing wild, contradictory life paths at players, and the Convict to Convent challenge might be one of the most dramatic yet. In a single life, your character goes from committing murder and escaping prison to living out their days in quiet devotion as a nun. It’s a full redemption arc packed into one save file — and while the story is fun, some of the steps require specific setup to pull off cleanly. Here’s a complete, step-by-step breakdown of how to finish it.

What You Need to Complete

The Convict to Convent challenge is made up of five required tasks, all of which must be completed within the same life:

  1. Be born a female in Germany
  2. Murder someone
  3. Escape from prison
  4. Adopt a pet
  5. Become a nun after having gone to prison

You don’t need any BitLife expansion packs to finish this challenge, though owning the Assassin’s Blade item from the in-game marketplace can make the murder task noticeably easier, especially if a target survives your first attempt and starts fighting back.

Once all five tasks are checked off, you’ll be rewarded with a choice of one of four mystery boxes containing a random cosmetic prize.

Step 1: Be Born a Female in Germany

Every challenge starts with character creation, and this one is straightforward on the surface: when you start a new life, set the gender to female and the starting country to Germany. The specific city doesn’t matter, so pick whichever one you like.

Your character’s stats aren’t relevant to completing this challenge, but if you want to make later steps easier, keep an eye out for the Criminal special talent during character generation. It isn’t required, and plenty of players finish this challenge without it, but it does give a slight edge when it’s time to commit crimes.

Step 2: Murder Someone

This is the task that sets the whole “convict” storyline in motion, and it’s also the one most players get stuck fumbling. Here’s how to do it:

  • Go to Activities
  • Select Crime
  • Choose Murder
  • Pick your target

You can technically target a family member, a friend, or a random stranger, but strangers are the easiest choice since there’s no relationship history or extra suspicion involved. When selecting your method, favor options like Drive-by or Poison rather than anything more direct — these tend to leave less evidence behind and give your target fewer chances to fight back or call for help.

Here’s the good news: it doesn’t matter if you get caught. Actually, for this challenge, getting caught is exactly what you want, since landing in jail is the bridge to the next task.

Step 3: Escape From Prison

If your murder attempt didn’t land you behind bars, don’t worry — you can trigger a prison sentence a different way. Commit a lower-level crime like:

  • Burglary
  • Porch pirating
  • Shoplifting

Smaller crimes like these tend to result in shorter sentences, and importantly, they’re less likely to land you in a maximum-security facility. That matters a lot here, because lower-security prisons make the escape minigame considerably easier.

Once you’re behind bars, open the Jail menu from the main game screen. From there you have two options to escape:

  • Watch a rewarded ad to instantly receive a guard outfit and auto-complete the escape
  • Play through the escape minigame yourself, sneaking past guards without getting spotted

The minigame’s difficulty depends on the size of the grid and the number of guards patrolling it, so if you get a rough layout, it may be worth retrying with a lighter sentence next time. Successfully escaping completes this step.

Step 4: Adopt a Pet

This sounds like the easiest task on the list, but there’s a catch: once you have a criminal record, BitLife normally blocks you from adopting a pet through the usual Activities > Pets > Animal Shelter (or Breeder) menu.

The workaround is to emigrate to another country. Here’s why it works: most countries will initially deny entry to a character with a criminal history, but you can still enter anyway. Doing so lets your character live as a regular citizen for a while — free of the criminal record flag — until authorities eventually catch on. During that window, head into the Pets menu and adopt any animal you like to knock this task out.

Step 5: Become a Nun After Going to Prison

The final task ties the whole “convict to convent” arc together, and it uses the same emigration trick from Step 4.

  • Emigrate to another country to temporarily clear your criminal record
  • Open your career menu and look through the full-time job list
  • Scroll to the bottom to find the Nun career option

If the Nun option doesn’t show up right away, try fully closing and reopening the BitLife app, then check the job list again — this is a known fix for jobs that don’t initially appear.

Once you see it, apply, land the interview, and get hired. Becoming a nun completes the final step of the challenge.

Quick Recap

StepTaskKey Tip
1Be born a female in GermanyCity doesn’t matter; Criminal talent is optional but helpful
2Murder someoneTarget a stranger; use Drive-by or Poison
3Escape from prisonCommit a minor crime for a lighter sentence and easier escape
4Adopt a petEmigrate first to bypass your criminal record
5Become a nunEmigrate again, then find Nun at the bottom of the job list

Final Thoughts

The Convict to Convent challenge is really a story about extremes — your character goes from taking a life to dedicating theirs to service, all within the same playthrough. The trickiest part for most players isn’t the murder or the prison escape, but figuring out that emigration is the key to bypassing your criminal record for both the pet adoption and the nun career. Once you know that trick, the rest of the challenge falls into place fairly quickly. Good luck, and enjoy the redemption arc.
